Casinos across the world have been doing their best to attract millennials who have shown disinterest in playing table games and classic slot machine games.

Nevada Casinos have experimented in the past by introducing skill-based games but so far they haven’t been very popular with regular patrons or millennials.

Casino operators in Nevada are now looking to bring something new to their casino floors by introducing virtual reality (VR) games. VR Technology has been making waves through a number of industries and casino game developers are trying to incorporate VR into gambling style games that allow players to have a VR gaming experience and make use of the opportunity to win real money.

International Game Technology (IGT) is one of the leading casino game developers who has invested resources into creating VR Games. The company has come out with its Virtual Zone booths which can be installed across casino floors and allows players to try out different IGT VR games. The current game that the company is testing is called ‘Seige’ and is based on archery.

Players who want to try their hand at archery will have to enter the Virtual Zone and test their skills which will give them points. The person with the highest points will be eligible to win a sum of cash. IGT initially demoed these VR games at the The Orleans Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas and then pulled out as the company wanted more time to test and tweak the VR game.

What Exactly Do Millennials Want?

IGT does not have any metrics or serious data to share on these VR games but believes there is a potential market for VR games in Nevada’s casinos. IGT plans to do more testing before they proceed with a mass launch of VR games in the state.

However, not all Nevada Casinos are interested in experimenting with VR games in the immediate future. Eldorado Resorts is one of those casino operators who are not looking at targeting millennials because they don’t have accurate data in terms of what millennials want and hence will not experiment with VR or skill-based games just yet.
