{"id":2728,"date":"2017-10-23T14:32:01","date_gmt":"2017-10-23T14:32:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.top10casinowebsites.net\/news\/?p=2728"},"modified":"2018-07-23T14:58:22","modified_gmt":"2018-07-23T14:58:22","slug":"mgm-resorts-receives-criticism-for-exploiting-vegas-shootings-in-new-ad","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.top10casinowebsites.net\/news\/mgm-resorts-receives-criticism-for-exploiting-vegas-shootings-in-new-ad\/","title":{"rendered":"MGM Resorts Receives Criticism For Exploiting Vegas Shootings In New Ad"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.top10casinowebsites.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/mgm-resorts-international.jpg\" class=\"alignright\" width=\"300\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.top10casinowebsites.net\/news\/mgm-resorts-launches-welcome-to-the-show-branding-campaign\/\">MGM Resorts launched its \u2018<em>Welcome to the Show<\/em>\u2019 marketing campaign in September<\/a> to transform its image from being just a casino provider to being the top provider in the world when it came to \u2018<em>entertainment<\/em>\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>The company launched marketing ads across television, social and digital media to showcase its non-gaming attractions and used catchy phrases such as \u2018<em>The World\u2019s leading producer of OMG<\/em>\u2019 \u2018<em>We are in the Holy Sh*t<\/em>\u2019 to attract millennials to its properties as they are more interested in entertainment than traditional casino games.<\/p>\n<p>MGM was forced to pause its marketing campaign in light of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.top10casinowebsites.net\/news\/casinos-in-las-vegas-to-rethink-security-after-uss-deadliest-shooting\/\">October 1 shootings in Las Vegas<\/a>. <strong>Stephen Paddock<\/strong> who stayed at the Mandalay Bay hotel which is owned by MGM Resorts opened fire from his hotel room on the 32nd floor and killed 58 people and injured more than 500.<\/p>\n<p>MGM decided to come up with a new marketing campaign called \u2018<em>Together We Shine<\/em>\u2019 which featured a different set of phrases that were created to show the strength and resilience of Las Vegas. The marketing campaign has \u2018<em>This Little Light of Mine<\/em>\u2019 sung by Odetta and uses phrases such as \u2018<em>Together we rise<\/em>\u2019, \u2018<em>Together we shin<\/em>e\u2019 and \u2018<em>Together, we are one<\/em>\u2019. As the ad comes to a close, a <strong>#VegasStrong<\/strong> hashtag is seen.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MGM RESORTS<\/strong><\/p>\n<div style=\"position:relative;height:0;padding-bottom:56.25%\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/wv4OnUSQjYo?rel=0&amp;showinfo=0?ecver=2\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" style=\"position:absolute;width:100%;height:100%;left:0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div>\n<p>There are a group of people who have taken offense to the fact that MGM Resorts is using the <strong>#VegasStrong<\/strong> hashtag and the Vegas shootings to sway public sentiment. They believe it is wrong for the casino operator to use the tragedy in its marketing campaign to try and fill hotel rooms and get people to visit MGM properties.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lili Tomovich<\/strong>, MGM Resorts chief experience and marketing officer chose not to focus on the negative feedback and said <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>We created this spot to reflect the strength and resilience of Las Vegas, of MGM Resorts, of Mandalay Bay and of all of our employees. The response to the message has been overwhelmingly positive. It reinforces our promise to the world that we\u2019ll remain strong and united in the face of adversity<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Marketing analysts believe that it is not surprising that there are some who feel that MGM is exploiting the Vegas shootings. This is because there is a segment out there who remain suspicious about the October 1 shootings, as a number of questions have surfaced for which no answers have been given.
