This came as a shock to the company as they had signed a lease agreement with the Philippine government and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.top10casinowebsites.net\/news\/pagcor-orders-landing-international-to-open-theme-park-before-casino\/\">received a government-issued license<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>The government did not issue a clear reason for the sudden change of stance other than to claim that the lease agreement no longer represents the best interests of state coffers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>INQUIRER.net<\/strong><\/p>\n<div style=\"position:relative;height:0;padding-bottom:56.25%\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/3y5Yby0Y2j8?rel=0&amp;showinfo=0?ecver=2\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" style=\"position:absolute;width:100%;height:100%;left:0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Presidential spokesman <strong>Harry Roque<\/strong> told the media that he was sorry to burst Landing Entertainment\u2019s bubble, but Duterte sees the current deal as grossly disadvantageous. Duterte has publicly stated that he hates gambling and that he won\u2019t be allowing any more casinos to be built. He is of the belief that the gambling market in the Philippines is at risk of becoming over-saturated. There are <strong>currently about 1,500 gambling tables as well as close to 10,000 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.top10casinowebsites.net\/slots\">slot machines operating<\/a> in the country<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The decision to put a stop to new development comes at a time in which the <strong>market has grown by 11.6% over the previous year<\/strong>. The Philippines is among the world\u2019s hottest gambling markets and billions of dollars are generated every year. Landing Development\u2019s planned casino would have housed 150 gaming tables and 240 slot machines.<\/p>\n<p>This is the second casino operator to be negatively impacted in recent months. <strong>Galaxy Entertainment Group<\/strong> also received a setback after their plans to build a $500 million <a href-\"https:\/\/www.top10casinowebsites.net\/news\/philippines-government-and-galaxy-entertainment-send-mix-messages-on-boracay-casino\/\">casino in Boracay were unexpectedly thwarted by the Philippine government<\/a>. Galaxy Entertainment\u2019s casino proposal had already received government approval and had been signed off on. They were ready to proceed when Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte suddenly canceled the deal citing environmental concerns.<\/p>\n<h2>Landing International Will Fight Back<\/h2>\n<p>A spokesperson from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.landing.com.hk\/en\/index.php\">Landing Development<\/a> has said that unless the agreement is nullified by the courts on solid legal grounds, the company believes that they have a valid leaseholder and would be able to legally go ahead with the project. Landing Development intends to fight the government\u2019s decision.<\/p>\n<p>Flip-flopping on issues is something that Duterte has done in the past.
