Yggdrasil Enters Spanish Market With GVC Holdings Deal

Yggdrasil Gaming, the gaming developer behind hits like Orient Express and Vikings Go Wild has just extended a deal with one of its current partners GVC Holdings.

This deal allows the developer to enter the Spanish online gaming market in the second quarter of 2018. GVC is already a solid player in Spain's online gambling market, especially with its bwins brand. This deal will allow GVC to be the first operator in the country to offer Yggdrasil games.

In a statement, Fredrik Elmqvist, CEO for Yggdrasil said

Spain has quickly emerged as one of Europe's fastest-growing and exciting jurisdictions, making it a perfect environment for Yggdrasil's award-winning slots and promotional tools. To enter Spain with GVC, a long-time partner across multiple jurisdictions will ensure our games are enjoyed by slots fans across the country

The Spanish online gambling market has emerged to become a powerful force on the European scene. Slot games which are a specialty of Yggdrasil's were added in 2015 and since then have witnessed significant growth. The latest report from the Spanish regulator Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego (DGOJ) has online gambling revenue pegged at €140.5 million for the third quarter of 2017, which is a 37 % increase when compared to the same quarter last year.

Yggdrasil Gaming

the developer broke into the Italian market with the help of GVC and its bwins brand. This was a great success as Yggdrasil's games were well received. Yggdrasil also entered the Danish market earlier this year with the help of bet25.dk. Expanding into Europe's regulated markets is the company's current goal as Yggdrasil is looking to ride the wave of online gambling growth in Europe and boost its revenues with its unique brand of 3D slot gaming.

While Yggdrasil has a reputation for developing unique online slot games, the company is also looking at expanding its online table games in 2018. Yggdrasil has confirmed that it will release new blackjack game that will leverage its own Redux motion-capture technology to immerse the player into the game. This blackjack game also has unique additions in the form of side bets and unique dealer characters with specific powers to make games interesting.

Yggdrasil already has a roadmap for its development and expansion into the table game market. After the blackjack game, baccarat and roulette are next in line and should be launched before the end of this year.
