Resorts World Casino in New York City, the casino resort that opened its doors to the public in 2011 via the Malaysian conglomerate Genting, currently attracts more than five million visitors each year.

On Thursday, the casino revealed its impressive plan for a $5 billion expansion that would build a concert hall, an entertainment hub, and a series of other exquisite amenities to its location in Southeast Queens.

The expansion proposal is a critical component of its frontrunner bid to grab one of the three available full-fledged gaming licenses that the state of NY will soon offer to three lucky operators.

10,000 New Jobs, Poker and Blackjack Table Expansion

The only casino in the city plans to send 10,000 new jobs into the economy thanks to its expansion plan, with 5,000 permanent union jobs in hospitality and gaming and 5,000 construction jobs in construction.

The number is expected to considerably sweeten its bid with NY once applications officially open up in the upcoming months.

The license would not only enable the casino to generate thousands of new jobs but it would also allow the resort to expand its machine-based operations by offering table games including poker and blackjack options.

The casino floor would be expanded to reach 350,000 square feet, turning it into one of the largest on the planet. The new project also sees 1,600 more hotel rooms added to the resort’s current capacity of 400 at the adjoining Hyatt Regency JFK Airport.

The additional 350,000 square feet of space aimed at conferences and entertainment would also feature a 7,000-seat arena, a health center, a sports academy honoring two-time NBA Champion Kenny “The Jet” Smith, and a 10-acre green space with running paths and trails.

The bid had backup from Queens-born rapper Nas, and several local politicians like State Senator Joseph Addabbo Jr., or celebrity chef Marcus Samuelsson during the event that presented Resorts World’s vision.
