Station Casinos Reveal Safety Guidelines For Reopenings

Station Casinos has released its public health and safety guidelines that the firm hopes to implement once their Southern Nevada gaming properties are permitted to operate for the first time since the middle of March.

A definite date on the return of gambling in Nevada is still under deliberation from the Nevada Gaming Control Board, as well as Gov. Steve Sisolak. 

Station Casinos is the operating arm of Red Rock Resorts; it caters mostly to the local market. Station reportedly plans on reopening its casinos in batches, with the first set comprised of six of its largest resorts such as the flagship Palace station close to the Strip, as well as the Green Valley Ranch Resort and the Red Rock Resort alongside its smaller operations.

According to an SEC filing by Station, some of their properties may remain closed even if they are allowed to reopen by the government, in order to use the first batch of re-openings to assess their future plans for the rest of their properties. 

Four properties will be left on the backburner for the meantime, including the fresh recipient of $690 million of renovations – the Palms Casino.

Safety Guidelines Will Meet or Exceed Public Health Recommendations

Station initiated the testing of all its casino workers and lease-partner employees for the coronavirus; a negative result on an FDA-approved COVID-19 test is mandatory before working. They will also be tested regularly once they start working. Station Casino properties will also feature thermal scanners to detect fevers at all entrances.

President of Station Casinos, Richard Haskins said the safety of all guests and employees are paramount. Haskins promised that all of their safety measures will meet or exceed the guidelines recommended by federal, state, and local authorities and public health experts. 

Once inside their casinos, Haskins assured guests that all employees will use personal protection equipment. They will also provide all guests with face masks and numerous hand sanitizing stations throughout the floor, including the latest in cleaning technologies, such as hospital-grade disinfectants and electrostatic sprayers.

Nevada’s gaming regulators suggest a cap of 50% on any venue’s maximum occupancy, which means that Station’s games will have reduced seating capacities.
