SPER Welcomes Yggdrasil For Responsible Gambling Promotion

Yggdrasil Gaming is one of the biggest names when it comes to releasing high quality online casino games. Yggdrasil games are played around the world and players will find them in most of the top online casinos.

The developer is now taking a big step though by joining the Swedish Gambling Association (Spelbranschens riksorganisation – SPER).

This is big decision since the Swedish legalised online gaming market is only a year old.

With Yggdrasil joining the program, the developer will now be in a better position to help ensure a responsible gaming position in the market.

SPER is a lot older than the legalised online gambling market in Sweden. It was started back in 2002 when only three operators were allowed to provide gambling in the country. These were Svenska Spel, ATG and Folkspel. That changed when the laws were changed in 2019. Now, 20 members have all promised to operate in a socially responsible way. They are supposed to follow the country’s universal gambling and marketing guidelines. There is also a code of ethics that they need to follow.

The fact that Yggdrasil signed up with SPER does not come as a major surprise. The company HQ is based out of Sweden while its operational HQ is in Malta, with additional offices in Poland and Gibraltar. Yggdrasil was established back in 2013 and has been building up a solid reputation as one of the best gaming providers in the business. Being part of the Swedish gaming market just makes the developers journey come full circle.

Responsible Gambling

Fredrik Elmqvist, Yggdrasil’s CEO is very pleased about its membership and says that the company has always been focused on acting responsibly. He went on to say that the company has always prioritised the safety of its players. With its membership, Yggdrasil promises that it will work towards making the Swedish gaming market safe and sustainable.

SPER CEO Jenny Nilzon was also very happy to see Yggdrasil’s join the program. She pointed out that Yggdrasil is a pillar in the industry. Nilzon said that when more gaming developers cooperate, the easier it is to keep the focus on consumer protection.

This is not the first time that Yggdrasil has made a mark on a regulated gambling jurisdiction. The company recently got a B2B license from the Isle of Man Supervision Commission. This will open up several new markets to the company and will strengthen its position in the global gaming market.
