  • The GoFundMe campaign has now been extended until April after recently hitting its £250,000 target
  • Among the biggest donors were leading iGaming companies and software providers
  • The donations are facilitated by the Choose Love charity

As Russia continues its invasion of Ukraine, several industries pulled out of Russia as well organizing various fundraising campaigns to help the war victims, and the global gaming industry is no exception. Just two weeks ago, Rasmus Sojmark of SBC Gaming initiated a donation drive via the fundraising platform GoFundMe and it received an overwhelming response from multiple companies and individual donors within the gaming sector.

The GoFundMe campaign has recently reached its £250,000 target and the fund continues to grow, thanks to the generous donors from the industry who have come together to help millions of Ukrainian refugees recover from the ongoing crisis. Those who are still interested to lend a hand may continue to donate through the campaign which is extended until April.

The funds will go directly to the Choose Love charity which is equipped with the right knowledge and proper infrastructure to facilitate the donations and distribute them to the relevant organizations currently working on the ground to give humanitarian aid to those affected by the war.

Sojmark and co-organizer of the campaign Shona O’Donnell of Better Collective couldn’t help but be proud of what the industry has achieved in just two weeks. The pair wanted all the donors to know that they are all appreciated and that their donations will go a long way in helping their Ukrainian brothers and sisters cope with the ongoing crisis.

Biggest Donors

Among the biggest donors of the campaign was European iGaming company Betsson, as well as major gaming solutions providers Oryx Gaming, Microgaming, Spribe OU, Fast Track, FSB, FunFair Games and Just for the Win, as well as player retention leader Enteractive, sports betting community OLBG, sports betting media group Better Collective, regulatory intelligence provider Vixio, and iGaming event organizer Clarion Gaming.

The fundraising drive also received significant donations from individual donors including Alexandre Tomic, John Coleman, Jonas Ornstein, Thomas Eaves, Henrik Fagerlund and Lasha Machavariani, with many others choosing to send help anonymously.

Donate Now

Choose Love is allocating $1.4 million to help with the relief efforts in Ukraine. Some of the donations were given to Caritas Austria, Insight, Humanitas, and Integra. These organizations are currently involved in delivering food and other essentials to Ukrainians, providing legal support and accommodation to war refugees, as well as transporting medical and other supplies to Ukraine. If you would like to donate, you can do so online at GoFundMe.
