Proposed Caesars VirginiaSummary

  • Danville site being cleared for new Virginia casino
  • Caesars Entertainment to develop $500M casino
  • New casino will feature a WSOP poker room

The demolition of Dan River Inc. building at Schoolfield, Danville is currently underway as workers look to clear the site for the new Caesars Virginia casino.

Robert Livingston, the senior vice president for development at Caesars Entertainment said that the removal of hazardous substances is in progress and will continue through till March 2022.

Caesars had earlier put out a request for proposal to finalize a construction firm for its Virginia casino. Livingston had announced in December that they would look at short listing a general contractor for the project in Jan 2022.The company was looking forward to mobilize the contractor and begin the construction of new buildings on the site, including the hotel towers in the spring of 2022.

Caesars shortlisted North Carolina-based Demolition & Asbestos Removal Inc. (DARI) who is now working on clearing the site. This casino project will create around 900 part time construction jobs and when it the casino opens to the public another 1,300 full time jobs will be created.

The casino resort will boost the local economy in Virginia by creating hundreds of jobs, providing business for small businesses in the area, increasing tourist numbers and generating gaming taxes for the local and state government.

As of now, there is no date set for the groundbreaking ceremony. Caesars will wait a bit longer to see how the clearing process plays out and then look at weather conditions before finalizing a groundbreaking date.

Virginia Casino Resort To Cost $500 Million

Caesars’ vision for the Virginia casino is nothing short of grandiose. Plans will feature a $500 million destination resort casino accompanied by a spa, fitness center and a pool area. The casino is expected to have 1,400 slot machines, dozens of table games, a World Series Of Poker (WSOP) poker room with 25 tables and a Caesars sportsbook.

The location will also include a 500 room hotel, a meeting and convention space spanning 40,000 square feet and a vibrant entertainment venue that would accommodate 2,500 guests. The WSOP poker room will prove to be a big attraction for the casino as WSOP live poker tournaments tend to attract poker players from all over the country.
