MGM Springfield Casino On Track For September 2018 Opening

MGM Springfield CasinoMGM Springfield casino broke ground in Springfield, Massachusetts nearly three years ago and construction work on the 14.5 acre casino resort property is finally in its last phase. MGM Resorts International has announced that the MGM Springfield facility will open its doors to the public in September 2018.

MGM Resorts is investing close to $960 million to build its first casino resort in Massachusetts and was initially expected to open the casino resort in the first half of 2018. The property will include a gaming floor that covers 125,000 square feet and a convention center that spans 45,000 square feet.

MGM Springfield is expected to have close to 3,000 slot machines, 75 table games and 20 poker tables. There will also be a six storey four star hotel that will have a total of 250 boutique rooms.

Saverio Mancini, a representative for MGM Springfield said that the gaming tables and slot machines along with other heavy equipment will start coming in by Spring. MGM Springfield is expected to make a number of important announcements in the coming months and will be running multiple promotions before the casino opens its doors to the public. More information regarding room reservations will be released a few months before the opening date is confirmed.

MGM Springfield is also taking advantage of the already established Massachusetts Casino Career Training Institute, which will offer a series of trainings and programs for people interested to work on the casino floor. Classes start on February 26 and students who complete two courses will be eligible to showcase their skills to MGM for immediate onboarding.

MGM Springfield has stated that it will create a total of 3,000 permanent jobs and around 1,000 of these employees will work on the casino floor. The remaining 2,000 employees will occupy multiple positions spread across engineering and maintenance, generation admin and hospitality along with food and beverage.

The new facility is expected to transform the city of Springfield by creating thousands of employment opportunities, boosting tourism and local business as well as generating millions of dollars in the form of gaming taxes which will be used to fund important projects in the local community.

Some of the other interesting amenities at MGM Springfield include a garden and roof deck spanning 35,000 square feet, a swimming pool and spa covering 7,000 square feet and a parking area covering 3,600 square feet.
