  • IGT to Focus On Multi-Level Progressive Games
  • Data shows players around the world prefer these games
  • IGT investing heavily in research before game development

IGT is one of the leaders in the gambling industry and any decision the company makes tends to have a big influence over the rest of the market. IGT recently announced that it is deciding to increase its focus on developing more multi-level progressive slot games.

Though these games have been around for nearly two decades now, these slots have witnessed an increase in demand recently as several of their features have started to appeal greatly to many slot lovers from all over the world.

Gunter Bluemel, vice president of international content and advanced research for IGT, says data shows that more players prefer to play progressive slot games.

Multi-Level Progressive Games

Multi-level progressive slots are an interesting genre of games. Unlike normal slots with a limited jackpot amount, players have a shot at several jackpot levels. The highest level is usually part of a progressive jackpot, which means it is linked across several machines and fives the biggest rewards. Lower jackpot levels are more standard but still provide great payouts.

The biggest attraction to players is that they are more likely to hit a jackpot. Unlike normal progressive slots, the chance of winning is spread out across levels, so there is always a chance to win even a modest prize. While the amount might be lower, the feeling of winning is what players are after. Besides that, a lot of multi-level progressive slots have similar playing mechanics, so players can simply move to another game, if they feel they want another theme.

Big Innovation

IGT’s commitment to make more multi-level progressive slots was clearly displayed in their recent showcase at the Global Gaming Expo in October. Several titles like Magic Link and Wolf Run Eclipse, were displayed prominently. IGT is not just rehashing old features with these games. The company has brought its trademark innovation into play as it looks to evolve this genre of multi-level progressive jackpot games.

A good example of this can be seen in Prosperity Link, one of the games that were displayed during the Expo. While perceived persistence mechanics are common in games, this slot combines it with a lock-and-respin feature that is pretty unique.

IGT increased its efforts in 2020 to collect more feedback from both players and operators. This was especially so, when a game was in the process of being developed. Testing was done in actual casino environments and player feedback was taken into account to ensure maximum enjoyment of the final product. While this can be expensive, Bluemel thinks it is definitely worth the investment in the long run.
